The Implications of Daylighting on Room Design Exercise.
How does the sun move across a home from sunrise to sunset? That was the question behind the exercise. Understanding this allows one to maximize daylighting while also designing for heat, cold, and glare coming through windows. Each student chose a world location and utilized a template house from Sketchup. Using the Geolocation feature within the program, we were to study how the sun impacted the house at 4 time periods during the day: on the Spring and Fall Equinoxes and the Summer and Winter Solstices.
